2ND FEBUARY 2006
MEDIA RELEASE
Muntaz ali

The Private Sector Commission is saddened at the passing of Mr Muntaz Ali and extends its deepest sympathies to his bereaved wife, children and relatives.

Mr Ali was the past Chairman of the West Berbice Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Association of Regional Chambers of Commerce (ARCC) and served with distinction in these capacities. He was very recently involved with the Private Sector Commission’s effort to build consensus on the draft National Competitiveness Strategy and was a strong advocate for Private Sector Unity.

Mr. Ali was an astute businessman who made a mark in the cinema industry and more recently in the construction industry in Grenada where he was engaged in the rebuilding exercise of that hurricane torn island. He brought good cinema to Guyana as proprietor of some 13 cinemas and as managing director of Global Films. A deeply religious man, he would be missed by many for his warmth, quiet wit, sincerity and dedication. The PSC will miss him.
