DR. PETER DE GROOT RE-ELECTED PSC CHAIRMAN

The Private Sector Commission of Guyana (PSC) held its Eleventh (11th) Annual General Meeting on Thursday 23rd October, 2003. Dr. Peter De Groot was unanimously re-elected Chairman for a second term. Other Executives who were returned unopposed are:
" Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo - Vice Chairman
" Mr. Paul Cheong - Honourary Treasurer
Mr. Claude Merriman is the new Honourary Secretary.

Over the next year, the PSC Executive will focus on the further consolidation of the restructuring of the Commission. The PSC's Economic Policy Unit is now fully staffed and has just released its Review of the Economy for the first six months of 2003.

The PSC has also established Sub-Committees in the areas of Governance and Security, Trade and Investment, Finance and Public Relations. The work of the Sub-Committees will be intensified during the coming year.

Training, through the Guyana Training Agency, is also being reviewed with the aim of rationalizing the many separate initiatives currently being undertaken.

The PSC will continue its advocacy for improvements in the enabling environment for business development in Guyana and the promotion of Guyana as an attractive investment destination
