APPOINTMENT OF MR WINSTON FELIX AS NEW COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

The Private Sector Commission extends warmest congratulations to Police Commissioner, Mr. Winston Felix on his appointment to this distinguished office.

Mr. Felix has had an outstanding career as a member of the Guyana Police Force and his ascending to the position of Commissioner is most welcomed by the business community.

We fully recognize that Commissioner Felix's appointment comes at a difficult time for the Force and we are confident that he will rise to the challenge of improving the image, professionalism and integrity of the Police Service.

We note Commissioner Felix's stated desire to consult with all sections of the wider society and the Private Sector Commission stands ready to support him in all his initiatives.

We strongly urge everyone to give full support to our new Commissioner as he works to deal with the many severe challenges with which the Police Force is faced.
