MEDIA RELEASE
FIRE AT MUNESHWAR LTD

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) is once again profoundly saddened by yet another fire which destroyed the landmark premises of Muneshwar Ltd on Water Street.

This is yet another severe blow to a member of the business community, coming soon after the fire which destroyed Auto Supplies, Royal Castle and Mohamed's on Hadfield and Lombard Streets. These fires come at a time when businesses are anticipating a better performance after over two years of hardships and severe challenges arising from political turmoil, conflict and crime.

The PSC and its Membership sympathises with the proprietor and employees of Muneshwar Ltd on this great loss. We hope that they would remain strong and committed and hope that they would be soon able to rebuild this reputable company which over the years has been of exemplary service to Guyana.

We would also like to take this opportunity to urge other businesses to take added precaution to secure and protect their premises over the holiday season.

We hope that 2004 would be a year of far less adversity and business will enjoy the confidence to further consolidate and develop
